TAILLIGHTS
A taillight consists of a housing with a circuit. It has an internal and external part, and the external part is transparent and made of colored plastic. In an LED taillight, you will also find various lights such as brake lights, fog lights, and turn signals. To save on fuel, it is recommended to use the LED variant as it reduces energy consumption. You can save up to 35 liters of diesel per year just by switching to a more energy-efficient lamp.
TAILLIGHTS
A taillight is important to have on the car as it should be clearly visible in the dark, and the light is on with high and low beams, parking lights, and main lights. It has a dim light, slightly weaker than the brake light. The primary purpose of the taillight is for other road users to see you properly in the dark or in generally poor visibility conditions, such as fog or rain. With functioning taillights on your car, other traffic can make a fair assessment of your position on the road. It is also incredibly important to have functioning reverse lights so that other road users can clearly be warned of your actions in traffic.
LAWS AND REGULATIONS
Lights must always be present on the car. It is required by law to have EU-approved lamps, so check this before you buy them. The penalty is a hefty fine, and in the worst case, you could lose your driver’s license. For example, if you have taillights on a truck trailer, the same rules apply to them, and if you have a cart or trailer, it is important that you have well-functioning lights there as well so that the driver behind you can see you properly in the dark.
TAILLIGHTS ON THE CAR FOR GOOD VISIBILITY
An after-vehicle is, for example, caravans and tank trailers. On after-vehicles, there should be taillights, two rear position lights, two red reflectors at the back, and two turn signal lights. Taillights on a car should only show red light. You don’t need to think about the placement as they are usually factory-installed. Often, the taillights are on together with the daytime running lights, but there are models where you need to turn them on manually. Be careful in the dark and fog to ensure that the low beams are on for such types of cars.
LED LAMP SAVES ENERGY
A bulb in a taillight usually has around 5 watts. In recent years, it has become more common to use LED lamps as they save a lot of energy compared to a regular bulb. Energy-efficient and high-quality lamps where you see a big difference, especially in the dark. There is a wide selection in many stores to suit your needs for the model you have. The LED lamp has become very common in recent years for styling different cars due to their countless design possibilities.
COMMON REASONS FOR REPLACING TAILLIGHTS
The most common reasons are parking damage, stone chips, carelessness from other road users due to poor visibility, or similar. Many people do not think about wiping off dirt, which can lead to the light not being as visible as it should be. The cables can also break. No lamp lasts forever, so it is a common reason for replacement. It is easy to disassemble the light from the car and put in the new part if you have the right materials at home. Recommended LED.
REPLACING TAILLIGHTS
A taillight attached to the body is usually replaced with just a few good screws. Depending on the type and manufacturer of the lamp, you can replace individual elements. However, most often, you need to replace the whole thing to do it properly. The connection contacts to the car should also be removed and cleaned. It happens that the lighting works as usual again if you scrape off some rust from them. A burnt-out lamp can be the problem or the lamp holder, which is easily fixed.
A bulb that burns out has been in place for a long time, so it is recommended that you replace them with LEDs, which are of better quality, lower energy consumption, and longer durability. Unstable voltage in the circuit can also lead to broken lamps and a melted lamp holder. It may also be that the car is hit, and if you have lamps, you can do it yourself; otherwise, just go to your nearest workshop.
